Looking for North Koreans
Louis Lumière Foundation Award 2010 A South Korean man travels alone to the Yellow Sea where many naval battles have spilled blood since the separation of the two Koreas. He searches for North Koreans escapees, risking his own life, endangered by the Chinese police. In his quest he moves from Incheon (South Korea), to various Chinese cities: Dandong – Qingdao – Shanghai. Along his journey he meets those who escaped, and tells us their heartbreaking stories. In 2005, the actress Sarah Le Picard staged six students of the Academy of Dramatic Art of Paris in Eric Lacascade's adaptation. Mia Hansen-Love and Elie Wajeman wanted to translate the theatrical emotion in a movie. This film helps the spectator feel the purity and the sincerity of a theatrical experience, with a unique closeness to the actors and an elegant and fluid style.
